New expanded hours for evening and weekends!
Membership with DIY Access
Unique Online Workshops
Full Service Printing, Scanning, and Framing
The Lab @ Silver Eye has reopened to the public, with expanded hours including evenings and weekends.

The Lab is our community hub, a professional - yet affordable - DIY workspace for local photo-based artists, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone back!

The Lab offers members unique access to our museum-quality printing, scanning, and print finishing equipment by reservation during regular weekly hours. The Lab is the only public workspace of its kind in the region, and it is
outfitted with professionally maintained and calibrated printers and scanners and a clean organized workspace for a range of possible projects and uses.

The Lab is also a meeting place for photo-based artists where ideas and skills can be shared and exchanged in an open, creative, and respectful environment. The workspace is complemented by unique exhibition and professional development opportunities for our members. We also offer workshops to artists of all skill levels, and full service fine art printing, scanning, and framing.

Silver Eye welcomes interested artists in need of production space and a supportive community to
apply to be a Lab Member. We understand some Lab Members may be new to our equipment or many just need to brush up their skills if it’s been a while and we are here to help! After you complete your application you will meet with a Lab Assistant for training and orientation to make sure you can work with confidence.

Lab Membership is $30 per month or $300 per year and members enjoy access to the Lab and it’s equipment by reservation during regular weekly hours

More Upcoming Exhibitions
Jacob Haupt: Real To Me
Sep 2–Oct 23, 2021

Jacob Haupt uses lovingly handmade props and costumes to explore pop culture and what he calls, “the tragedy of becoming an adult.” Using himself, his wife and daughter, and his friends as performers, Haupt creates pictures that are absurd, funny, and poignant tableaus of monsters, heroes, villains, and devils. Through these images he shares his feelings, weighs the value of nostalgia and celebrates the staged, the fictitious, and the performed. Real to Me is also a sincere, peculiar, joyful, delirious, and real family portrait.
Hernease Davis: Recapitulation
Sep 2–Oct 23, 2021

Brooklyn based artist Hernease Davis will present new multi-media work with silk cyanotypes, sound installation, and silver gelatin prints. Recapitulation refers to an element of musical theory, where a musical theme is presented again later on, after its initial appearance. It can also mean an act of summarizing, restating the main points of an idea or event. Fusing these notions of restarting and renewing, this exhibition looks to personal modes of processing, calming, and coping as a means of confronting personal experiences of trauma.
Radial Survey, Vol. II
Nov 4, 2021–Feb 19, 2022

Radial Survey is a biennial exhibition of the preeminent emerging and mid-career photo based artists working within 300 miles of Pittsburgh. Our goal is to highlight work and support artists from places that are sometimes overlooked in the national photography conversation. After dozen studio visits and working with curatorial consultants from across the radius, for this second iteration of the biennial we have identified a group of eight outstanding artists from across the radius whose work explores how their personal identities intersect with the histories of places they are from, and where they work.

Save the date for an opening gala on Thursday, November 4th, 2021!
