Chicago Detours >> Invite Mom to Virtually Attend the 1893 World’s Fair
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Invite Mom to Virtually Attend the 1893 World’s Fair Chicago Detours hosts "A Day at the World's Fair Virtual Tour" for Mother's Day
APRIL 19 - CHICAGO, IL -- Chicago Detours
announces a special virtual tour, “A Day at the 1893 World’s Fair” for
Mother’s Day on Sun, May 9 at 11:00am. Guests can invite their mothers
and family members from afar to join them for this Zoom-led event, led
by a live event host sharing rarely-seen photos and archival
illustrations. Some trivia polls make it interactive, too.
Guests will step into the shoes of a typical fairgoer at the World’s
Columbian Exposition, one of Chicago’s most fondly imagined historical
spectacles. Chicago Detours Executive Director Amanda Scotese will lead
this virtual journey. Early birds could also join the event on Fri,
April 30 at 7:00pm.
Topics covered during the virtual event will include how guests arrived
at the World’s Fair, how they purchased tickets, and what they would see
inside the stunning exhibit halls. To put oneself in a visitor’s shoes
means thinking about the most ordinary topics, too, so guests will learn
about anything from lunch options a fairgoer might consider to where
they would stay, how they would get around the fair, and how they would
go to the bathroom!
The experience includes intermittent questions that inspire virtual
event guests to imagine the everyday experiences at the fair. They can
also privately chat with their moms, daughters, sons and the like as
they speculate on the answers.
