Centerfolds: From 'Girl Next Door' To Some Of The World's Most Recognized Women From Playboy Magazine
Over the years, Playboy Centerfolds have not only become part of our nation's culture – the women are as iconic as the magazine! Centerfolds (Koehler Books), by Charlotte Kemp (Miss December 1982), is a compelling 20-year compilation of stories collected from 'Centerfolds' who lifted the veil of mystery and bared their souls to show what the young women who went from 'girls next door' to Centerfolds are really all about!
"We can make the claim that soldiers took our pictures with them into battle, astronauts walked on the moon with our pictures on their sleeves, and the biggest names in Hollywood and Washington courted us, dated us, and had sex with us – or at least tried!” says Kemp.
For most men in America they were simply the 'girls next door;' voluptuous, smiling beauties men fantasized being with. Many were just out of high school and naive when they were swept into a world of the rich, powerful and famous. They traveled the world in private jets and went to places and stepped through doors many of us can only imagine, but now they share a rare view of life through their remarkable stories.
"This book has been a labor of love and honesty from these iconic centerfolds, photographers and celebrity models. These first-hand accounts and experiences provide a behind-the-scenes look at life as a Centerfold and range across the spectrum of our younger lives, Playboy, and beyond. Readers will get to see us not only in our prime but also as career women, mothers and citizens with a desire to make people smile and do some good. These are true stories from our lives - so get ready for the real girls next door!” says Kemp.
Approached by Playboy at age 19, Charlotte Kemp became Miss December in 1982. The first Playmate to be given a license, she started "The Playboy Running Team” and coined the term 'Playmates with a Purpose' to raise money for charities around the nation. Charlotte appeared in many commercials and films in Japan and Italy and was one of the stars of Frankenhooker, one of the top 25 'B' movies of all time. She has appeared on Inside Edition, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and numerous radio shows and regional network shows nationwide. Centerfolds is her second book; the first, For My Eyes Only, was a collection of poetry, prose and short stories. Charlotte resides in Texas.
