A refreshing restaurant renovation adding a dash of style, a pinch of trend and a hint of the hip throughout the space

CHICAGO (March 21, 2013) —Lockwood Restaurant & Bar
(17 E. Monroe Street), announced it will undergo renovations to update its space. The goal of the design is to blend fresh, modern design additions with the historic nature of the famous property. The renovation will include minor floor plan changes throughout the restaurant as well as updated seating, tables, lighting and design accents.

The new half-million dollar design project by Aria Group Architects, Inc. will bring an inviting sense of modernity into the space, as well as increase seating space and change the flow of the restaurant. New lounge furniture will modernize the space, while booth tops wrapped in quartz will preserve the restaurant’s elegance while creating a lively and fresh space for guests to enjoy. The inside bar will also receive updates with the addition of a new, modern backdrop. The LED-illuminated color-changing glass behind the bar will brighten up the space with an elaborate frosted glass peacock, surrounded by the restaurant’s extensive bar offerings. A mix of dark wood and quartz, accents of cream and chocolate fabrics, and dimly lit sconces throughout the restaurant will create a beautifully warm and inviting atmosphere.

“It’s an exciting time at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar. We’re receiving a fresh, new look and vibe to complement the arrival of our new Executive Chef Joseph Rose and his new menu. The renovation will create a seamless flow from the famed Palmer House Hilton lobby, but more importantly, will add an additional 20 seats to our restaurant,” says Director of Food and Beverage Deanne Kelly. “We’re absolutely thrilled to start this renovation at Lockwood,” says Rose. “The goal of the revamp is to modernize Lockwood, while still creating a space that guests can flow seamlessly into from the historic Palmer House lobby.”

Renovations will take place from March 24 to April 7, during which time guests are invited to dine during normal business hours under the ceiling fresco of the Palmer House lobby or at Potter’s Lounge.
