Art Design Chicago Presents Near North Design Day (Chicago, IL.)



 
 
 
 
  
 
A Day of Activities Celebrating Chicago’s Role as a Design Center Including Tours, Performances, Open Studios, and More
 
Who:       Art Design Chicago, in collaboration with the Chicago History Museum (1601 N. Clark), Newberry Library (60 W. Walton), DePaul Art Museum (935 W. Fullerton Avenue), the Roger Brown Study Collection (1926 N. Halsted), Art on Sedgwick (1408 N. Sedgwick), Sedgwick Studio (1544 N. Sedgwick) and others….

What:      ...presents Near North Design Day, a daylong program of free and family-friendly events for all ages featuring art, music, and performance, the latest in a yearlong series of community-driven public programs produced as part of Art Design Chicago.

Free trolley transportation between venues will be provided from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Click here for a map of the trolley service.

Highlights of the day’s events and related Art Design Chicago exhibitions include:
  • Modern by Design: Chicago Streamlines America exhibition at Chicago History Museum, featuring:
    • A make-and-take mini Zephyr train craft station and family yoga set to live music by Latin-fusion band, A Flor de Piel from 10 am – 12 pm
  • Pictures from an Exposition: Visualizing the 1893 World’s Fair exhibition at Newberry Library, featuring:
    • A lecture on and demonstration of Ghawazee style belly dance, as attendees of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition would have seen it, from 10:30 am – 12 pm
  • Clay Printmaking Inspired by the Work of Edgar Miller at Art on Sedgwick, featuring
    • Clay printmaking workshop with Sharon Bladholm from 12 – 4pm
  • Yasuhiro Ishimoto: Someday, Chicago exhibition at DePaul Art Museum, featuring:
    •  A photo workshop that invites visitors to create photogram kits inspired by the exhibition from 2 – 4 pm
