A Tribute to Jane Fonda | Saturday, July 29 | Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel
Join us as Cinema/Chicago and the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival honor two-time Academy Award®-winner and three-time Golden Globe®-winning actress Jane FondaA Tribute to Jane Fonda takes place on Saturday, July 29 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago and will feature an on-stage conversation with Fonda, giving insight into her experience and approach to her craft, accompanied by iconic clips from her illustrious career. The celebratory evening will conclude with the presentation of The Chicago International Film Festival's Gold Hugo Career Achievement Award to Fonda for her contributions to both film and television. 

The celebratory evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a festive reception including cocktails, small plates, and a silent auction followed by the conversation with Fonda. After the main event concludes, guests are invited to a special after-party with DJ and dancing. Learn More.

We Want Your One Minute Film
Make a 60-second film for the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival and have the honor of having it seen every day before official selections at the Festival.

The Festival's theme this year is "Because Life Is a Movie!" and we are looking for great 60-second shorts that reflect this idea. The best films will be selected as finalists. If selected, your short film will be seen at this year's Festival on a rotating basis before each screening at this year's Festival (October 12-26, 2017).

The first place winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 USD and will be presented before the Opening Night film and before Special Presentations at the Festival. All finalists will receive screen credits and be recognized in the official program book of the Festival.
Submission deadline is September 1, 2017.

Join us every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St., 2nd Floor North.) for free film screenings featuring food-themed films. This month we'll take you to Australia, France, Brazil and Chile! Please arrive early as seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to theater capacity. Films are unrated. Viewer discretion is advised.

Free outdoor movie series at Lake Stage in Polk Bros Park

Make Monday night free outdoor movie night along Chicago's lakefront as Navy Pier hosts Water Flicks, a weekly summer film series presented in partnership with the Chicago International Film Festival. Every Monday at 7pm from July 10 through August 28, join us for water-themed movies at the Lake Stage in Polk Bros Park, starting with SHARKNADO.

Founder and CEO of Cinema/Chicago received Italy's highest honor for 50-year contribution to Italian Film

Founder and CEO of the Chicago International Film Festival, Michael Kutza, was presented with Italy's highest honor, Onorificenza di CAVALIERE from IL Presidente Della Repubblica of Italy - Giuseppe Finocchiaro, on June 1, 2017 for his 50-year contribution to Italian Film.

Cinema/Chicago is the proud recipient of a 2017 CityArts grant! Thank you to the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) for believing in the power of films and for supporting our year-round operations. The CityArts Program seeks to encourage non-profit organizations to attain artistic excellence and financial stability by providing general operating support to Chicago-based, arts and culture-focused, non-profit organizations with budgets under $2 million. These grants are part of the City of Chicago's Cultural Grants Program that provides $1.7 million annually in direct funding for Chicago's arts community. See full list of grantees.
