OnEdge, Feb. 23-Mar. 25, spotlights experimental dance,
theater and genre-defying performances from national and international
artists and companies. The free performances take place at the Chicago
Cultural Center and throughout Chicago including The Triumph of Fame by Marie-Caroline Hominal, A Ride on The Irish Cream by Erin Markey, minor matter by Ligia Lewis, Three Matadores by Every house has a door, lil BLK by NIC Kay and Court/Garden by canary torsi. DCASE is now accepting applications for the 50x50
Neighborhood Arts Project, which will provide up to $1 million to create
new public artworks throughout the city's neighborhoods.
Artists--including painters, photographers and sculptors--interested in
brightening and enhancing the city are invited to submit their
qualifications for the project at bit.ly/2jcP8wz before February 24. Part of the Year of Public Art
designated by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the 50x50 initiative was inspired by
Chicago's 50 wards and the 50th anniversary of two of the city's most
iconic public artworks--the Picasso in Daley Plaza and the Wall of
Respect which once stood on the South Side.

Chicago Latino Film Festival Film Series
The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago presents a
film showcase from January to March 2017. Six films hailing from Spain,
Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia portray stories that
prove youth has no age. February events include free screenings of The Gold Brooch/Broche de Oro and The Student/El Estudiante.
