DCASE is proud to showcase the work of our grant recipients! Silk Road Rising
received a CityArts Grant in 2016, which provided general operating
support for the organization. A theater in the heart of Chicago's Loop,
Silk Road Rising has been bringing stories of Middle Eastern and Asian
Americans to the stage for the past fifteen years. In addition to
creating live theater, Silk Road Rising produces online videos, civic
engagement initiatives and an in-school arts education in a
multi-faceted effort to extend bridges of compassion and understanding
within and between communities
The mission of the Department of
Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is to enrich Chicago's
artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy. To support this mission, DCASE
provides more than $1.7 million annually in direct funding for Chicago's
arts community through its Cultural Grants Program.
