'Climate Play-in' Protest - Illinois Moms and Their Kids Traveling to DC to Join 700+ Moms & Kids to Push on Capitol Hill for Climate Action, Cleaner Air
CHICAGO MOM TO PARTICIPATE IN “PLAY-IN” PROTEST
ON CAPITOL HILL URGING CLIMATE, AIR POLLUTION ACTION
Support for Federal Action on Climate Change to be Major Theme of Unique Event; Chicago Mom Available to Discuss Why National Event is Important to Area.
Hundreds of moms and their children will gather on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Wednesday (July 13, 2016) to hold a unique “Play-In” protest event. Among them will be Kelly Nichols of Chicago, Illinois who will help bring attention to the need to address climate change and air pollution, and also will join the push for climate solutions like renewable energy and federal limits on greenhouse gas emissions.
Organized by Moms Clean Air Force, the “family friendly” protest event takes place Wednesday from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Upper Senate Park, 200 New Jersey Avenue NW on Capitol Hill. The news event will be held from 9:30-10 a.m. CDT at the same location. Nichols will join families from across the country showcasing exactly what’s at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: Our children’s health and future.
News event speakers will include:
* Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives;
* Members of the rock band Guster;
* Heidi Cullen, chief scientist, Climate Central;
* Dominique Browning, co-founder and senior director, Moms Clean Air Force;
* Vanessa Hauc, Emmy-award-winning correspondent, Noticiero Telemundo;
* Dr. Erica L. Holloman, founder and CEO of Ayika Solutions, Inc. and coalition coordinator for the Southeast CARE Coalition.
Hundreds of moms and their children from Illinois and across the U.S. are expected to participate in the “Play-In” protest event.

GO RED GET FIT EVENT ON SATURDAY, JULY 23 AT 11 A.M.
Get your heart pumping with workouts led by fitness experts, check out the season’s hottest workout gear, and stop by the interactive booths for tips to improve your heart health
WHO: Macy’s and the American Heart Association are teaming up for Chicago’s first Go Red first
Get Fit event. Go Red Get Fit begins with heart-pumping workouts from fitness experts and social media phenoms Lita Lewis, Ary Nunez and Ashanti Jackson. Guests will also have the chance to check out the season’s hottest workout gear and visit interactive stations for helpful tips to improve their heart health.
During the Go Red Get Fit event, Illinois Heart Rescue will be on hand to teach hands-only CPR, and chef Brian Alston will lead a cooking demonstration featuring a heart-healthy recipe.
WHAT: The event is part of the #GoRedGetFit national fitness campaign led by Macy’s and the
American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement. The challenge is designed
to inspire and help women make lifestyle changes to benefit their heart health.
Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end
heart disease and stroke in women. Go Red for Women advocates for more research
and swifter action for women’s heart health, and the movement harnesses the energy, passion and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease and stroke.
