Ernie Banks,"Mr.Cub' has died

Back in the 1980s I was in the checkout line at Walgreen's on Michigan Avenue and had my copy of the newspaper "The Reader" on the counter as the clerk rung up my items.Ernie Banks was suddenly surrounded by fans and signing autographs;he thought my paper was there to be signed. So...I guess I'll treasure "Mr.Cubs" autograph. I never ask for autographs when I am doing photo shoots. He was always very nice at the events I did photograph him at.
A few decades later at Walgreen's on the same street I was walking home from another photo shoot and noticed the sign that Ernie Banks was there signing copies of his book,'Hoodoo: Unraveling the 100-Year Mystery of the Chicago Cubs. He's pictured here with the co-authors Mark Vancil , Elliott Harris and  Grant DePorter. Ernie posed for photos for me to license to publications.

Chicago Artists Find New Home in Loop Restaurant, Bar (Chicago,IL)

Chicago Artists Find New Home in Loop Restaurant, Bar

Attorney turned bar owner Marc Smith believes Chicago is chock full of creative talent, and he wants to show it to you.  His new bar, Tradition Gastro Pub + Kitchen
, has become more than just a destination for great food and an extensive craft beer list.  In between the flatscreen TV’s, which showcase all Chicago sports games, a large and carefully curated collection of paintings, drawings and photographs litter the exposed brick walls of the Loop locale.  The art, which rotates on a regular basis, is all created by emerging Windy City artists and is available for direct purchase.

In November Smith took his passion for supporting the local arts community one step further and partnered with Geodesic Designs to Tradition the new home of the popular pop-up event, State of the Art (SOTA.)
Hundreds of Chicagoans flocked to the first installment of SOTA at Tradition where they enjoyed complimentary food and beer while checking out pieces from half a dozen local artists and socializing amongst themselves.

Tradition is proud to announce the date for the next SOTA event, which will take place on Wednesday, February 11th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Guests are invited to view original (and affordable) works while snacking on an array of appetizers from Tradition’s winter menu and sipping on complimentary Coors Light beer.

A $5 donation at the door is recommended.  Tradition Gastro Pub + Kitchen is located at 160 N. Franklin.
