Art Is Helping - Own The Art You Love - Donate To The Cause You Support
is beyond just something that ends up on the wall at the end of the
day. That's what Salem Krieger thinks, and he's right. Art can help and
he is using art to make a difference
"Activists are out
there doing stuff, why can't art be a part of that? What do I have to
offer as an artist? I can take some of my sales and give a portion to
charities. You buy and I will give. That started the whole development
of the project. That's where the name of the site came from. I wanted to
become part of the process instead of just thinking about it," Said
Salem Krieger about the project.
Salem started Art Is Helping to bring artists
and charitable organizations together. By supporting both non-profit
organizations and the artists, buyers can purchase works of art while
donating to charities of their choice.
A portion of the purchase price is tax-deductible.
The available charities
represent a wide range of important causes including the sustainability
of the planet, feeding the homeless, comforting at-risk animals,
contributing to Native American causes, and providing help to veterans -
just some of the shared goals of Art Is Helping.
When Salem spoke to Alan Dorow, the owner of Sitewelder:
Websites for Photographers and Artists about his project, Alan
immediately said they would build the site and donate, their services
along with hosting for the project.
Duggal Visual Solutions has generously offered special pricing on printing and packaging to assist Salem with the project.
Art Is Helping brings
the artwork created by these artists who are willing to sell their
prints with part of the sales going to the charitable organization of
the buyer's choice.
Artist James Weber is thrilled to be a part of something that gives to a good cause and gets his work out there. "It's everything.
I create the art I do out of love. The thought that my art can at once
adorn someone's wall that appreciates it and second, help someone in
need is incredible. It's a great feeling," he said.
"Working with Salem,
who is a fantastic artist, always has great ideas. We have worked with
Salem on several campaigns for Rational Animal, so it seems natural to
partner on a larger scale and bring in more charities have them all
benefit from art," Says Susan Brandt Blachley founder of Rational
Animal, one of the charities that can benefit from Art Is Helping.
The charities listed on
the website are just suggestions for donations. They are not directly
involved with Art Is Helping. Supporters are welcome to suggest a
certain charity that they would like to donate to.
"Art is a wonderful thing to appreciate, if it helps a good cause then we all benefit" - Artist Daniel Mirer
Some of the artists
involved in Art Is Helping are: Salem Krieger, David Arky, Adam Brazil,
Jada Fabrizio, Julie Gross, Hana Jakrlova, Sky Kim, Jack M. Kucy, Daniel
Mirer, Aaron Olshan, Franc Palaia, Jack Perno, Diane Rosen, Daniel
Sorine, Maximiliano Sinani, Ashok Sinha, Donald Vaccino, Peter Vaccino,
and James Weber.
"I have known the
founder of Art Is Helping for a very long time. Over the many years of
our friendship he has been a consistent advocate for the environment and
for social change, two priorities that I also share. Compassion is as
characteristic of him as his considerable creative talent, I was
instantly on board when he mentioned this project to me." - Artist Diane
