Beloved Holiday Train Finds New Home at 360 CHICAGO (Chicago,IL)

Beloved Holiday Train Finds New Home at 360 CHICAGO
Train’s return makes the Hancock observation deck even more special this holiday season
360 CHICAGO, the observation deck in the John Hancock Center, is pleased to announce the return of the city’s famous holiday train at its brand-new home on its 94th floor. For more than a decade, the holiday train circled the lobby of the Hancock building delighting thousands of visitors each holiday season, before being retired in 2012. This year, the newly restored holiday train will be on display for guests of 360 CHICAGO from November 20, 2015 through January 3, 2016.
“We are thrilled to give the holiday train a new home at 360 CHICAGO and to give our guests the opportunity to experience its magic,” said Nichole Williamson, general manager of 360 CHICAGO. “It was loved by so many for so many years; it will be really special to have it back this year. The 2015 train will look similar to the one many of us know and love, but with a number of surprises in store, it promises to be more spectacular than ever!”
When it makes its return more than 1,000 feet above the Magnificent Mile, the holiday train will run along the perimeter of the 360 CHICAGO floor, set against a backdrop of breathtaking 360-degree city views. The train’s display will be a custom scenescape made up of buildings and bridges, trees and rivers, animations and lights – and will feature special Chicago tributes and anecdotes. In all, the display will measure more than 8 feet tall. The train and its scenescape will be designed and assembled by its original makers – a team of retired Chicago policemen and engineers. A time intensive process, construction of the train began November 1 and will take 3 weeks to complete.
“We strive to make the guest experience the best it can possibly be. The holiday train will add a lot of fun and holiday cheer to our space, and we look forward to welcoming new and returning guests to celebrate this special time of year with us,” continued Williamson.
As part of its holiday programming, guests of 360 CHICAGO will also enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and half price admission for children.
