POW! MMA and Fitness January Updates 
Get fit, be healthier and learn new skills in 2015 
 Thirty-five percent of us who make annual New Year's resolutions tend to break them by the end of January. At POW! MMA and Fitness
(950 W. Washington), Katalin Rodriguez Ogren, a renowned fitness and self-defense expert can motivate people of all ages and fitness levels to achieve their goals of becoming strong and skilled this year.

Ogren, the studio's owner brings 18 years of fitness experience, 32 years of martial arts experience and is a four-time black belt in various martial arts formats. She was the first to bring Krav Maga, a reality based self-defense program, to the city of Chicago. Rodriguez Ogren is also a recognized author, public speaker and played the female ninjas in the video game Mortal Kombat II, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

In addition to its current schedule that includes 50+ fitness and martial arts classes each week, POW! announces the following programming for 2015.

Body Resolution Challenge
Kick and punch your way to a better body in 2015. Sign up for 8 weeks of unlimited training a before and after fitness assessment, 30-day Isagenix cleanse and fat burning package ($399). Combine boxing/fitness, kickboxing/abs, Muay Thai/cardio, self-defense/Krav Maga and Strength/conditioning classes to achieve your weight loss goals.

The winner of the challenge, which will be judged by percentage of body weight lost, will receive $200 cash, a six month unlimited membership to POW! MMA & Fitness, Revgear training gloves and wraps and two free personal training sessions (total value over $1200). Participants must begin by January 30, 2015.

Defending the Family: Krav Maga Workshop 
There is no thought more frightening than the idea of having to defend your family or loved ones from an attacker. Learn how to use principles and techniques from Krav Maga, a reality based self-defense system, to address this fear. Class is Saturday, January 24th from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m., $40 per two people.

POW! Kids offers a newly expanded schedule for kids featuring classes that build strength, confidence and skill. Programs are fitness-driven and offer a safe training environment for children starting at age 3. Ogren, a mother of three, fosters an instruction style that is safe, motivating and unintimidating. Classes include:
  • Superhero Training: Classes lead students (ages 3-7) through different missions and an exploration of what it means to be "super." Instructors interlace physical tasks with creative expression for each 10-week session beginning January 11 (Sundays, 9:45 a.m., $200).
  • Fit Kid Camp: When school is out for Martin Luther King Day on January 19, parents can drop their kids at POW! for full or half day training. Every 40 minutes the kids move onto new sports drills, board games or interactive exercises (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., $85).
  • Youth Fitness Class: POW! Kids offers fitness classes for youth and teens ages 8-14 years, where students will learn strength building and conditioning routines to help build confidence and skill (Mondays & Fridays, 5:30 p.m., $18 per class). 
POW! Kids Birthday Party Packages
Host your child's next birthday party at POW! Kids. Choose from affordable, interactive and unique packages including Superhero Training, Athletic Play, Ninja Training, Boxing Fitness and Nerf Skills. Parties are two hours, customizable for ages 3-12 years and host up to 11 kids. Parties begin at $225 and include 90 minutes of curriculum driven activities led by a certified instructor.
