With robocall and telemarketer scams such as the recent IRS phone scam on the rise, consumers are in desperate search for a way to successfully guard themselves from fraud and theft. The government is creating legislation against political robocalls, that makes registration for Wisconsin's do-not-call list permanent and merges it with the federal do-not-call list. But even with this proposed solution, consumers have to re-register every two years to remain on Wisconsin's list, enabling telemarketers to find consumers who forget to renew.
Nomorobo uses technology already available from most phone carriers called Simultaneous Ring, which allows any incoming phone call to ring at your home, your mobile and in this instance the Nomorobo server at the same time. This way, Nomorobo can block unwanted phone calls before they ever reach you. With Nomorobo, all calls are screened before they reach a person's phone. If the service detects a robocall, it will play a message announcing that robocall-blocking is activated and working.
Where these do-not-call lists have repeatedly proven to be ineffective, Nomorobo has come in to save the day and provided an effective and targeted way of blocking all robocalls for consumers who enroll in the free service. I'd also like to add that Nomorobo won the FTC robocall challenge, in a response to the FTC's overflowing complaints from consumers who were being plagued by robocalls.
A simple, one-time setup activates Nomorobo on a consumer's current phone line. Caller ID not required. Developed by Aaron Foss, Nomorobo recently won the FTC Robocall Challenge. The Nomorobo service launched publicly in September 2013 and has since blocked more than 1.2M robocalls. Nomorobo doesn't block school closings, doctor's appointment and prescription reminders, weather advisories and other legal robocalls. There's no charge to use Nomorobo. No strings attached.
