Post-Show Discussion on October 13
featuring Nora Dunn, Peach Carr and Arica Hilton

Chicago - Oct. 3, 2013 - Chicago's own Nora Dunn, actress, comedienne and writer, will be hosting a post-show discussion with designer Peach Carr and artist Arica Hilton, to talk about how their work came together for Nora's one-woman show, Mythical Proportions, on Sunday, October 13, following the 4 p.m. performance.  Mythical Proportions has been extended at Theater Wit through October 20, 2013.  Theater Wit is located in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood at 1229 W. Belmont Ave, Chicago. For ticket information and performance schedule, visit or call 773.975.8150.

Mythical Proportions is a hit with the critics! “Funny but strikingly poignant.  Dunn is a gifted Chicago writer, landing squarely within the literary traditions of the city. Revelatory!” raves Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune.  “RECOMMENDED!  Full of lovely surprises, deft characterizations, a multitude of voices and a good deal of self-revelation, the piece is more meditative than flamboyant, and as gently poignant as it is comic,” exclaims Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times.

Emerging from the memories of an 87-year-old Hollywood doyenne who discovered the greatest stars of the 50’s, to the musings of a seven year old girl mystified by the small world of Mr. Rogers and the lives of prisoners in a TV series called LockdownMythical Proportions combines characters across the country with Dunn's own stories from her childhood in inner city Chicago.  Join us on an American stage that stretches from tales of narcolepsy at cocktail parties to a middle-aged bookkeeper whose trip from a dreary town in Northern England to the sunny coast of California ends in tragedy, and to Mrs. Williams, a 68-year-old African American woman who relates a family history tainted by racism but driven by love.
Dunn is most notably recognized for her work on Saturday Night Live from 1984 to 1991, and for her iconic characters Pat Stevens and Liz Sweeney.  Her other credits include such films as The Guilt Trip, Working Girl, Miami Blues, Passion Fish, The Last Supper, Runaway Jury, Three Kings, and Pineapple Express.  She has appeared on countless TV shows including five seasons as Dr. Marcus on Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Everything’s Sunny in Philadelphia, The X-Files: Wonderland Parts 1 & 2, the long-running NBC series: Sisters, the short-lived ABC series: Three Moons Over Milford, The Defenders, and Apartment 23.  She is the only actress who has played Ariana Huffington and Gloria Allred in television movies in the same year.  She coached Meryl Streep for her role as Iron Lady, in that she advised her not to do it while on the set of It’s Complicated, where she spotted a whale in the Pacific Ocean. While working on a film in Dublin, Laws of Attraction, with Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan, she spotted a small spider in her bed at The Four Seasons.

Peach Carr burst onto the fashion scene as a cheeky self-taught Chicago designer on Season 8 and Season 2 All Stars of “Project Runway.”  Drawing from her 60’s and 70’s childhood, Peach finds inspiration for her designs from the music, art and vibe of that era.  When designing, Peach always asks herself if Edie Sedgwick would have worn it.  Dubbed by Tim Gunn as “Country Club Chic,” Peach designs for the woman who likes to be on-trend yet comfortable and polished.  Her pieces range from bold wrinkle free day wear to chic evening and even stretch sequins for cocktails.  “Real Housewife of NYC” Alex McCord, RHNJ’s Dina Manzo, Linda Yu, LeeAnn Trotter and Nora Dunn are among Peach’s celebrity clients.  Peach Carr Designs can be found in various boutiques around the country and at:

Arica Hilton was born on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.  As a young girl, she studied architecture, design and has worked as an art dealer, interior designer, poet and artist since 1985.  Whether it is visual art through paintings or the poetic expressions of language and music, every aspect of Arica’s life is geared towards one form of art melding into another.  Hilton lives and works in Chicago.  Until recently, she was the president of the board of the Poetry Center of Chicago and was voted one of the LIT 50: Who Really Books in Chicago 2011 by NewCity.  Her works have been seen in Fine Art Magazine, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Huffington Post, Astronomy Magazine, Art World News, Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.   Among her most recent collaborations with other artists, Hilton curated the poetry aspect of a sound and light installation, “DIVINA NATURA” with Italian artist Marco Nereo Rotelli at The Field Museum.  She also wrote the storyline and poetry for photographer, Dennis Manarchy’s “METAL” book, which will be released in Winter 2013.  Her 6 x 10 foot painting, "UNIVERSE, Life Unlimited" is currently the backdrop for Nora Dunn’s Mythical Proportions at Theater Wit.   Hilton’s book of poetry, "The Seven Faces of Love," is due for release in fall 2013.  She is currently preparing for a solo exhibition in Brussels in spring of 2014.

"A thrilling addition to Chicago's roster of theaters" (Chicago Tribune) and "a terrific place to see a show" (New City), the new Theater Wit is in its second season in its newly renovated home at 1229 W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago.  Theater Wit inaugurated its brand new, $1.3 million venue in the former home of the Bailiwick Arts Centre in June 2010. The new Theater Wit boasts three intimate 99-seat performance spaces - the only theater in Chicago with such a configuration - plus a new box office, administrative offices, a beer, wine, spirits and coffee bar, and a cool, casual lobby.

To encourage cross-pollination among all productions at Theater Wit, the company has introduced Chicago's first live theater, Netflix-like membership program.   With a Theater Wit Membership, you can see as many plays as you want at Theater Wit, year round, for one low monthly fee of $36 ($22 for students).

Founded in 2004, Theater Wit's mission is to explore contemporary issues with wit and wisdom through new works and Chicago premieres. To purchase a Membership Program, Flex Pass, single tickets or for information about all productions at Theater Wit, call 773.975.8150 or visit

HALLOWEEN’S FRANKEN PLAZA INVADES DALEY PLAZA, OCTOBER 25-27 It’s the ghoul place to be! (Chicago)

It’s the ghoul place to be!
Calling all witches and goblins, superheroes and princesses, monsters and moppets! Franken Plaza will once again invade Daley Plaza (Washington and Dearborn) for three days, October 25-27, in celebration of “Chicagoween” – the City of Chicago’s Halloween season.
A favorite tradition continues as Midnight Circus will participate in the City of Chicago’s Halloween festival for its 16th straight year with performances throughout the weekend. Hang on to your hats (and hearts) as the gravity-defying ghosts and ghouls of Midnight Circus amaze audiences of all ages with their otherworldly acrobatics and spook-tacular theatrics. Featured this year, from who-knows-where, is the one and only Demon Duo!
On Saturday, October 26 Franken Plaza will host the annual Monster Bash which includes free hayrides, trick or treating (while supplies last) and the popular Kids Costume Contest. Joining Mayor Spookenberger of Midnight Circus as host of the contest will be NBC 5 Entertainment Reporter Lee Ann Trotter.
The Kid’s Costume Contest is open to children ages 12 and under and includes the following categories: scariest, funniest and most original. There will also be a best costume category for children under 24 months. Children should line up to participate at 11:30 a.m. with the contest beginning at 12:15 p.m. Prize packages include a pair of tickets to WICKED, beginning October 30 at the Oriental Theatre.
Adding a new twist to the costume contest this year will be a category for all ages in conjunction with WICKED, celebrating its 10th anniversary. To participate and win these tickets, contestants must dress as a Wicked character. Homemade and original costumes are encouraged.
In addition to performances from Midnight Circus and Midnight Circus presents The Demon Duo Show, Franken Plaza will include an appearance by the Radio Disney AM 1300 Road Crew, arts and crafts, a Harvest Marketplace – and, on Sunday, a Wicked sing-a-long featuring some of the musical’s most familiar songs at 1:30 p.m.
Franken Plaza’s Friday Film is back again and this year’s presentation will be Hotel Transylvannia presented at 6 p.m. The animated PG film features the voices of Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Andy Samburg and Selena Gomez and tells the story of Dracula as a protective father who builds a hotel just for monsters, keeping humans away from his daughter. He is successful until a young camper shows up and the two young people fall in love.
Another new attraction this year will be Food Trucks at Franken Plaza providing tasty goodies from their spot just east of the plaza on Dearborn.
Franken Plaza is open Friday, noon-7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Franken Plaza is presented by the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and sponsored by Chicago Transit Authority, Radio Disney AM 1300 Chicago and 104.3 KHITS.

About Meals on Wheels Chicago
Meals on Wheels Chicago (MOWC) was established in 1987 by a group of community leaders, concerned citizens, and a primary community affiliate, the City of Chicago, to address the unmet nutritional needs of the city’s homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities. This collaborative, philanthropic effort focused on raising private funds to supplement limited public dollars for City programs that offered these two communities a choice in their care and living arrangement, despite age, income, or ability level.  Today, MOWC continues its private fundraising efforts through special events, corporate and community partnerships, and individual giving to support in-home meal delivery for homebound seniors, as well as home modifications to increase accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
