ABOUT MELISSA LANZ (at-a-glance)
Melissa Lanz is a former marketing executive who quite her day job to promote healthy family food culture.  As founder of The Fresh 20, Melissa strives to bring fresh food back to the family dinner table and reduce the amount of process ingredients used in American households.
 
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Melissa Lanz was a successful global interactive director in the corporate world whose hectic 70-hour work week jammed with meetings and deadlines left her eating unhealthy quick-fixes: take out, canned food, and frozen bean burritos.  Then in 2010, Melissa, a devoted mother of two, had a wake-up call when her mother fell terminally ill, and vowed to revolutionize her family’s dinnertime experience, making it healthier, preservative-free, and with meals cooked with fresh fruits and vegetables.  She immediately quit her job, and quickly created The Fresh 20, a series of weekly meal plans that provide busy families with fresh and inventive meal options.  Mindful of how costly ‘organic’ fresh groceries can be, she created a program for a family on a budget – where all of the ingredients are used throughout the week and nothing goes to waste (no more rotting vegetables in the fridge!).   In 2011, Melissa founded the Family Food Summit, an online conversation with food industry leaders.  Three years later, with over 100,000 subscribers and counting, she has helped other busy and stressed out parents make healthy and tasty meals an easy task five nights a week.

WHAT:         
Two, the butcher-shop inspired restaurant located in the heart of West Town, will celebrate its one-year anniversary and will be inviting guests to join the fun!
From Thursday, August 1 through Sunday, August 4, draft beers and cocktails will be half-priced for all guests dining at the restaurant. Additionally, Chef Tom Van Lente will be bringing in two suckling pigs from Swan Creek Farms. He will smoke the pigs and serve them with house-made honey butter biscuits and local candy onion vinaigrette.
