This June, the city
of Chicago will once again host the Better Homes and Gardens magazine
and Weber Chill and Grill Festival™, www.bhgchillandgrill.com
, taking place in Chicago’s Waveland Park in Lakeview, June 9-10.
This
exciting culinary event puts grilling center stage with recipe tastings
from local restaurants, celebrity chef demonstrations, hands-on
grilling classes, a relaxing Chill Zone
Lounge, live music, activities for kids and much more. Guy Fieri, the New York Times
best-selling cookbook author and host of the Food Network’s Diners,
Drive-ins and Dives, will headline the Chill and Grill festival with a
crowd pleasing grilling demonstration
on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm on the Main Stage. Guy will be joined
at the festival by numerous other celebrity chefs and food experts
including Jamie Purviance, Stephanie Izard, Adam Perry Lang, Domenica
Catelli, The Hearty Boys and many others.

The
2012 festival will take place in Waveland Park, in the Lakeview area of
Chicago. During the weekend of June 9 and 10, Chill and Grill will
provide free shuttle service from
area bus and metro stops to the festival and back. Directions and

.
Admission
to the festival is free. However, tastings and Weber classes will
require ticket purchase. Food and beverage Tasting Cards are sold on a
punch card, 12 “punches” per
card. A Tasting Card can be purchased online for $12 or at the festival
for $15. Punch cards will also be available for sale in other
increments at the festival. Weber Class Tickets can be purchased online
now for $25 or at the festival for $30.
A wide range of culinary events will take place over the course of the festival weekend, including:
Local Restaurant Tastings: Enjoy delicious food tastings from local restaurants including Black Dog Gelato, Chicago Cut Steakhouse,
Foodlife, GT Fish & Oyster, Hearty, Hot Chocolate, Mercat a la Planxa, Nacional 27, Weber Grill Restaurant and West Town Tavern.
Celebrity Chef Demonstrations:
Enjoy free grilling seminars where celebrity chefs demonstrate ways to
bring fresh-grilled flavor to favorite dishes, live on the main stage or
in classroom
style seminars. Some of the participating chefs include:

Guy Fieri –New York Times best-selling cookbook author and host of the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Guy will headline the festival
with a grilling demonstration on Sat, June 9 at 2:30 on the Main Stage.

Jamie Purviance – A national Grilling Expert, Jamie is also a 2010 James Beard Award nominee and
New York Times best-selling author of eight grilling cookbooks, including the new Weber’s Smoke™.
Throughout the festival weekend, Jamie will be creating two recipes
from Weber’s Smoke, including Baby Back Ribs and Spareribs with Sweet
Apple Barbecue
Sauce.

Domenica Catelli
–
A recurring judge on the Food Network’s hit cooking competition show
Iron Chef America, Domenica is also the author of Mom-a-Licious: Healthy
Recipes in 7 Steps or Less. During the weekend, Domenica will be
demonstrating
how to create Grilled Mini Meatballs as well as Grilled Strawberry
Shortcake Pizza.

Adam Perry Lang –Chef, restaurateur, and
New York Times best-selling cookbook author, this BBQ champion will demonstrate how to create Clinched Strip Steak, Two Ways.

Stephanie Izard
– Stephanie Izard is the chef/partner of the Chicago restaurant Girl
& the Goat, which is also a 2011 James Beard ‘Best New Restaurant’
nominee. Stephanie was selected as one of the Best New Chefs in 2011 by
Food & Wine and will be hosting two seminars throughout the weekend
on how to create delicious Kalbi-Style beef ribs.
Hands-On Grilling Classes:
For only $30, you can learn the secrets of great grilling from Weber’s
grilling expert, Kevin Kolman. Want to know how to grill the perfect
burger or the
ultimate pizza? Here’s your chance! The full schedule of Weber classes
is now available online. Each class member leaves with a special bag
filled with grilling goodies including a copy of the all new Weber’s
Smoke™.
Great food from the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchens: Relax and refill at the
Better Homes and Gardens Grill,
where festival-goers can enjoy delicious entrée sized grilled fare like
Pizza Stuffed Burgers, Chicken-Peach Burgers, Spicy Buffalo Chicken
Salad, Grilled-Watermelon Shrimp Salad, Vanilla Milkshakes and more.

Live Music:
What’s chilling and grilling without music? At Chill and Grill, live
music will play all weekend by local bands including Planet Groove,
Chicago Blues Angels and Kilborn
Alley.
Chill Zone Lounge: Grab a seat and relax with friends and family while you enjoy wine and beer, including Chicago’s own Goose Island brew!
Kids’ Corner: Chill
and Grill has something for everyone, including kids! Here, kids can
get a temporary tattoo, make fun crafts that they get to keep, and more.
Oscar Mayer Food Truck:
The Oscar Mayer team will be sampling two new hot dog flavors from its
OM Select Line, including new Chicago recipe and New York style.
Bush’s Grillin’ Beans: Festival attendees will have the chance to get their picture with Jay and Duke the dog from Bush’s, and also
to sample one of their newest flavors, Sweet Mesquite.
