SUSHISAMBA rio Announces New Omakase Celebration Series; Launching in January 2013

Introducing a four week series of exciting chef tastings

SUSHISAMBA rio is kicking off the New Year with a one-of-a-kind eight-course Omakase Celebration series inspired by the culinary team’s journey to Japan. For four nights only SUSHISAMBA will offer an exclusive prix-fixe menu that highlights Japan’s unique techniques and traditions for the Chicago audience. The menu celebrates four different regions of Japan, including Hiroshima, Akita, Nagano and Nigata.

Each dinner celebration will lead with kagami-biraki, a traditional sake cask breaking ceremony in which the lid of a sake barrel is broken with a mallet. The ceremony is held in high regard and brings harmony and good fortune to everyone taking part. Next, guests will watch SUSHISAMBA Executive Sushi Chef put his skills to the test in a masterful whole hamachi carving demonstration, followed by artful sushi-making and a colorful culinary display. Sample dishes include:

assortment of kumamoto oysters, shishito, unagi tamago

Kani Chawanmushi
