TASTE OF
CHICAGO
POP-UPS
A SUCCESS
As another Taste of Chicago has wrapped and cleared from
Columbus Drive, one of the festival’s newest feature was not only enjoyed
by the customers, but also by the restaurateurs.
Presented by WTTW11’s Check, Please!, the Taste Pop-Ups were a hit!
"I
was thrilled that the Pop-Up restaurants at the Taste of Chicago was
such a huge success", said David Manilow, Creator & Executive
Producer of Check,
Please!, who curated the featured pop-up restaurants. "It gave
attendees a chance to experience a wonderful selection of diverse and
authentic restaurants that changed daily. I'm already looking forward to
next year!"
“We were one of the Pop-Up restaurants and we were very happy to be there. It was a great turn out!
The event was very well organized by the city and the restaurant association. We will for sure be back next year!”
Michael
Mikusch, Owner of the Austrian Bakery
Being
part of the Pop-Up schedule at the Taste this year was really great for
us. The response we had from the patrons couldn't have been better and
I think people were excited to have a new food experience with a Korean
option being included this year. We were more than happy to be
included in this year's line up and would definitely be interested in
participating again!
Yunjin Hong, chef/owner Jin Ju
We at Riva Crab House thought it was
great! We love the opportunity to put our brand in front of tourists, as
well as locals. It was a unique opportunity to connect with our
customers in a different
environment that was fun and interactive. The feedback from customers
was very positive. There was a lot of buzz, about the pop ups
specifically, each day. Who is there? What are they serving? Etc.
Joe Roireau, Corporate Executive Chef
"We
had a very good experience! It was our first time, so instead of doing
the full shebang, the pop-up concept gave us the opportunity to get our
feet
wet, how the event works, and what to expect. It was a great success
for us and we're definitely applying for the full thing next year.
We're still trying to count our tickets!"
Vince Geraci, owner of Caffe Gelato
“We
would like to thank Check Please for recommending Cafe Trinidad to
participate in the 2012 Taste of Chicago. We would also like to show our
appreciation
to the Illinois Restaurant Association and the City of Chicago
for all the assistance
and help they provided us, in order to make the entire process run
smoothly. It was an honor and a wonderful learning experience
participating in this year’s Taste of Chicago. We love the idea of a
Pop-Up Vendor and hope we have the privilege of being ask
next year to participate in the Taste of Chicago.
Gari Hicks, Managing Partner of Café Trinidad
