                        Darin Lifetime Events Presents…..
“Music From the Heart” – A Tribute to Bobby Darin

The 2nd Annual Fundraiser Concert will be held on Sunday, May 17,2009 at 6 p.m. in the main showroom of the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa.  This event is designed to raise money for the Children’s Heart Foundation of Nevada, which will benefit existing programs including Camp Mend-a-Heart, Smart Heart Scholarships, Family Outreach and more.
The concert features musical memories and video highlights of the great Bobby Darin.  Hear original Darin arrangements recreated by Bobby’s band members and other talented performers. The show is produced by Bobby’s former bass player, Bill McCubbin.  This year, “Billy Mac” brings Bobby’s musicians, T.K. Kellman and Tommy Amato to the stage along with The Fat City Horns, the outstanding brass section of one of Las Vegas’ favorite bands, Santa Fe.  The horns are heralded for their ongoing performances in the Bette Midler Show.
Sharing the stage this year is an exciting lineup of talent including Dennis Tufano, the original “voice” of the Buckinghams, the Chicago based group that scored with a string of hits from the ‘60s including the #1 “Kind of a Drag”, “Don’t You Care”, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” and more.  Dennis, a successful songwriter, has collaborated with Elton John’s writing partner, Bernie Taupin, Olivia Newton-John and musician Tom Scott who, along with Dennis, created the theme song for the “Family Ties” television show. Dennis currently stars in his own production “As Long As I’m Singing” a tip of the hat to the songwriting/performing of Bobby Darin.  Twenty-One year old Dakota is a gifted and seasoned performer who began his career at the age of five. He is respected by many celebrities and had the admiration of “Ole Blue Eyes” himself when he appeared as the young crooner for many years in Legends in Concert.  A fervent fan of Bobby Darin, his talent enriches the tribute.  We are pleased to welcome back the very talented Gene Sironen, another local “Legends” alumni. In 2000, Gene was voted Best Singer in a Las Vegas Show as the voice of Bill Medley in the Righteous Brothers tribute act.
Bobby Darin had a special interest in children with heart problems, and in his memory, his family is committed to supporting this event that not only honors him, but gives back to the community.  Tickets start at $35 and may be reserved by contacting the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa box office at (702) 797-8055.
