Macy's Glamorama 2006 ! The *BEST* event of 2006 !

Macy's Glamorama 2006 happened Friday night. They raised close to a million dollars on the event.Proceeds go to the Art Institute of Chicago.

Macy's Glamorama 2006 Glamosphere – creatively combined every sound, style and composition imaginable at the Chicago Theatre. Celebrities walked the Red Carpet as the media grew restless for this years star,Beyonce Knowles to arrive. She arrived with her mother Tina and sister Solange.

Grammy award-winning entertainer Beyoncé Knowles headlined this year and put on amazing but all too short performance.
She performed two songs from her new CD and closed the show for the evening.

Taking the stage prior to her performance was Ozomatli followed later by the unusual but energetic dancers Tommy the Clown group.

The high-energy fashion show was between and during the performances. Cutting-edge, cross-cultural fall fashion designs this year included Marc Jacobs, Badgley Mischka, Just Cavalli, Peter Som, Tuleh, D&G, Temperley London, House of Deréon and more. In addition, this will be the national runway début of Tina Knowles House of Deréon line.

The post party was held at Macy's State street store. Fans lined the street hoping to get a glimpse of the stars as they arrived from the theater.
The stars posed for a brief photo op and then mingled with guests and enjoyed the creative and lavish display of food on 2 floors.

This is one of my favorite events to cover every year. This year did not disappoint!

Surviving Eden premiere at Pipers Alley Cinema

Last night was the The Chicago premiere of Surviving Eden an Pipers Alley Cinema.

Jayne Lynch, Greg Pritikin (writer, director), Cheri Oteri, Michael Panes showed up.
Bill Zwecker had the honors of doing a Q&A session onstage after the movie.

SURVIVING EDEN, an independent film written and directed by Chicagoan, Greg Pritikin. is a sardonic send-up of reality television and the culture that devours it.  In the tradition of Waiting for Guffman and Take the Money and Run, a documentary film crew captures the pitfalls and pratfalls of fame as reality show winner Dennis Flotchky (Michael Panes) is thrust into the whirlwind world of instant celebrity.  Chicagoan Jayne Lynch and Cheri Oteri head the cast which also includes Peter Dinklage, Sam Robards and John Landis.

The after party was held at Spoon on Wells Street. I wish I could have made it but I had other obligations. :-(

If you see him around town,Please ask him this...Doesn't the TITLE of "Emmy Award Winning Actor"
before his name sound sooooooooo much cooler than

Jeremy Piven,PhD. :-) with those silly letters after a name ???
I know I sure would take the former!!!

McCormick & Schmick's summer soiree for media

McCormick & Schmick's held a summer soiree for media to experience their new outdoor patio and a variety of very tasty food items.Though the opening of the new loop location on Wacker Drive opened in July, the front patio was closed.
So now it's open and it's wonderful! Not only will you experience an incredible menu prepared by top rate chefs but this has to be one of the best people watching spots in the city. Not to mention the stellar views of Marina City,Wrigley Building,Michigan Avenue and the construction of Trump Tower. I happened in at the tail end of the event and was offered a " Lobster Martini. "
It's not on the menu *yet* but I have hope it will be. It's not a real cocktail but fresh lobster meat in a martini glass with mango salsa. Absolutely delicious as was the seared tuna and the beef tenderloin the manager acquired for me. :-)

Pictured above:
*Seared yellow fin tuna with ginger wasabi and cucmber salad "sushi salad"
*a single portion of carrot cake ..(Their real serving of carrot cake is a 6 layer cake, cream cheese frosting, dusted in coconut, drizzled in caramel sauce)

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels headlined the Chicago Air and Water Show along the lakefront

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels headlined the Chicago Air and Water Show along the lakefront.

Spectators watch the grand finale in the lakeview area of Chicago.

Review:

Fast! Loud!

One thing I've learned about air shows. It's far better to be outside watching the show than being inside and jumping to the ceiling in a lakefront highrise every time a plane sneaks up next to your building.Another thing I've learned: When there is a bad weather day for an air show, don't listen to the afternoon news when they interview the pilots! I heard that one pilot said they were not use to flying around highrises and with the bad fog could not see them very well! Ok,that's real comforting..

Till next year!

E! News co-anchor Giuliana DePandi discussion and signing for her new book,Think Like A Guy

E! News co-anchor discussed and signed copies of Think Like A Guy at Borders Books & Music Michigan Avenue store.
Ever wonder why some women get the guy and others end up in therapy wondering what went wrong ?

This book might have the answers on the rules of dating from a woman's perspective on how a man views women's words and actions and how to avoid the trap, keep your sanity and be that bird of perfect mystery he can't wait to be with. You could always read the long as infinity daily or weekly musings of Christian Carter's "Catch Him And Keep Him" on men and relationships. However that will probably keep you too busy reading for a year to even date anyone.Or, you can pick up this nice size softcover at your local Borders and get some good sage advice at a user friendly price.

I never thought I'd agree with a relationship book but this one does have some witty reminders on life and love that after awhile you just forget.

When men show up at a booksigning and nod their head in "amen style" agreement during a book discussion like this; rest assured the author is onto something.

Happy reading.
